As a writer, I focus on two things: places and people, and the way they shape each other. I like the way the physical landscape and the cultural history of a place embeds itself into language—the way the rhythm and cadence of a story hits the ear, or a comic punch builds in a bit of dialogue.
I earned my B.A. from Wellesley College and my M.F.A. from Warren Wilson College. Since then, I’ve published a variety of stories and slid into the honorable mentions of Best American. You can find recent publications here. Currently, I’m at work on short fiction and a novel.
I live in New York City with my family and am a Californian at heart.
